Satisfaction is expressed locally at the action of the Land Purchase Board in recommending the purchase by the Gov- ernment of the Coondle Estate, The pur- chase will materially increase the prospects
of the district and town.
Humours are abroad of a'fresh gold dis- covery on private property in the vicinity of the late find, but nothing definite can be learned upon the subject.
Several parcels of town lands have recently changed hands at considerably - advanced figures.
Interest is being taken in the approach- ing municipal elections. Mr E. Holiday wül contest the mayoralty with the re- tiring mayor, Mr. W. G. Leeder, J.P.
