Rode' and 'The Man They: Gould .Not Hang,' two films made by independent companies at the Cinesound studios, have been recently completed, and will be re leased by British Empire Films, Ltd. Two'Efftee productions, completed but not yet released, are 'Clara Gibbings,' a comedy with Dorothy Brunton, and 'Streets o£ London,' a travel picture. Well-known Players. There is much activity at the two Cine sound, studios at Bopdi and Rushcutter's Bay. respectively; where the first Roy Rene ('Mo') comedy, 'Strike It Lucky,' and 'The Big Race' are being filmed, and pre parations are in hand for 'Granddad Rudd,'' Bert , Bailey's second talkie. In 'Strike It Lucky,' which is a Cinesound production, Mr. Rene is being supported by Yvonne Barvard, Joe Valli, Les Warton, June Mills, and other players well known in Australia. 'The Big Race' is a Beaumont Smith production, and the leading role is being filled by Eric Cohnan (a brother of Ronald Colman, who is well known in New South Wales as a radio announcer), Leo Frank lyn, Frank Leighton. Isabelle Mahon.' Madge Aubrey, Charles Zoli, and Billy Stewart. 'Granddad Rudd.' which will be a successor to 'On Our Selection,' will; naturally show the vast improvements made in Australian film production from; all angles in the two years that have elapeed since the making of 'On Our Se-' lection.' It is hoped to release 'Grand- dad Rudd' as a Christmas attraction in all States. At the St. Kilda studio of Efftee, Expedi tionary Films, Ltd. is at work on a bjg national spectacle. 'Heritage,' under the direction of Charles Chauvel.
