ROADS AND DRAINAGE.
Perth Board to Spend £33,000.
Proposals to borrow £20,000 having been approved, the Perth Road Board has made provision to spend over £33,000 on works during the current financial year.
Projects to be financed from the ordi nary revenue will include drainage and the reconstruction of roads and foot paths in the Mt. Lawley ward at a cost of £4,200; new roads and repair work in the Osborne ward at £3,600; road main tenance and reconstruction work in Inglewood at £3,600; and the surfacing of roads, construction of new roads and the renewal of' the overhead railway bridge at Seventh-avenue, In the May lands ward, at £2,000. In addition to these items, the board has approved the borrowing of £11,950 to be spent in Mt Lawley on the construction of a storm water drainage system, the construction of new roads and footpaths, and the re construction of roads and improvements to reserves in the area. The stormwater drainage system will connect with the six feet concrete drain which is now be ing built under the railway line near the Maylands station and through Maylands to discharge into the Swan River near the East-street jetty. For stormwater drainage in Maylands, as well as for road works, £4,000 of loan money is required by the board. For expenditure on roads and water reticulation in the Coast ward of the district £4,100 will be provided from loan.
