THE SEARCH FOR OIL. Freney's Area.
It was reported yesterday that gas had been struck in a water bore on Gogo Sta tion, which is situated in the Kimberley district on, the area covered by the con
cession held by the Freney Oil Co. Wooramel. Oil Search, Ltd., reports as follows: — The Geological survey being conducted in the Wooramel River area is proceeding satisfactorily. Recent shallow boring proves that the shale carries at least 30 miles further east than was anticipated, and one bore put down to a depth of 300ft. struck intensely saline water, simi lar to that obtained in No. 2 bore on Byro, which was described as having a black scum on it which lighted freely with a match.
