NORTHAM, May 10.
Rain is threatening here. Some splendidly equipped teams from the eastern colonies passed through the town yesterday via the old North am-rcad, which is abundantly
watered.
Mrs. Carter, a very old and much respected settler, died on Tuesday.
A considerable number of new arrivals are leaving for Southern Cross, cn the chance of rain failing.
The Great Southern Line is making a big bid for general traffic, specially low through freights being offered to importers. Th« present bloek at Fremantle is likely to encourage the Albany line. Captain Turn bull, who is located here, is most energetij in securing traffic for the line.
The Agricultural Hall at Irishtown is to be opened with a banquet shortly. The Premier and others are to be present.
