AUSTRALIAN FILM.

ENGLISH ACTOR ENGAGED.

PLANS FOR UNCIVILISED."

Mr. Charles Chauvel, who is producing thi new Australian film, "Uncivilised," for Expe- ditionary Films, Ltd., has engaged n younf English actor. Mr. Dennis Hoey, to play a lead- ing role. Mr. Hoey is flying to Australia bj the air mail service. He will arrive in Syd-

ney on October 20.

tage."

All the interior scenes for "Uncivilised" will be made at the new National studios, Page- wood. Mr. Chauvel has signed a contract under the terms of which he will use this studio and all its technical equipment for four months. Work has already begun. Rep- licas of a police station in North Queens- land and of part of a Daintree River forest are now being constructed.

As regards the exterior scenes, Mr. Chauvel and a staff of technicians will leave Sydney on Saturday for the Cape York Peninsula. There, a large number of cameras, together v/ith full sound equipment, will be taken to the jungle. Mr. James Coleman, the art director of the company, Is at present at Palm Island, preparing locations.

After the exterior scenes have been photo rraphed, a number of aboriginals will be brought from Palm Island to Sydney for tho making of scenes in the studio. The trans- portation will be carried out under the super- vision of Government officials. The Queens- land Government is co-operating fully with Mr. Chauvel and his company.
