REPATRIATION GRANTS FOR CIVILIANS OF NEW GUINEA
Dependants of New Guinea civi- lians, who lost their lives when the Japanese vessel, Montevideo Maru, was torpedoed off Rabaul may re- ceive full repatriation benefits short- ly.
This was indicated by the Minis- ter for External Territories (Mr. Ward) in the House of Representa- tives yesterday.
Mr. Ward said that the dependants were already receiving pensions, equivalent to those provided to de- pendants of army privates. Con- sideration is being given to the ex-
tension of other benefits.
