INDIAN CRICKET TEAM
ARRIVES AT DARWIN
JJARWIN, Fri.-The first Indian cricket team that has
visited Australia arrived tonight by air from India. The team is on its way to Perth, where it will play its
first match.
AS there were four withdrawals
shortly before the team left Ind- ia only 13 players arrived. Another four are expected next week.
The Indians will miss their fast bowler, and will rely on leg spin-
ners.
They are confident that they will make a good showing, and are hope- ful of de/eating Australia.
The world famous Indian cricketer Prince Duleepsinhji, who played with the English Test team and vis- ited Australia in 1929, is accompany- ing the team as Renter's correspon-
dent.
The former captain, V. M. Merch- ant, who is acclaimed an excellent leader and who made a brilliant showing against the" English Test team last year, was not able to lead the team on the tour, because of
sudden illness.
Although they say they have no really "extra fast" bowlers in the same category as Larwood, the In- dians place a great deal of confi- dence in S. C. Nayudi and Elahi, '.eg spin bowlers.
