Veteran Chinese To Go Home
Mr Willie Chung Sing, elder of the Hobart Chinese community, cele- brated his 82nd birthday last week. Mr Chung Sing will return to China shortly to rejoin his family. Sixty were present at his birthday party.
Mr Chung Sing arrived in Hobart from Canton in 1837, and was em- ployed by Ah Ham and Co. for
three years, then went into busi- ness at Launces- ton and Welling- ton (NZ) for the next 12 years.
After several trips to China. Mr Chung Sing returned to Ho- bart as general manager of Ah Ham and Co. for the past 36 years.
He has been

î organiser and treasurer for the
annual Chinese donation to the Royal Hobart Hospital, now aggre- gating more than £100.
Mr Chung Sing has a wife, three sons, a daughter, and 11 grandchil- dren in China, and two grandchil-
dren in Hobart.
The other original partners in Ah Ham and Co. propose to return to China shortly.
