WINTRY WARMTH
In tlie Antarctic
LITTLE AMERICA (Antarctica),
Snndftv
Unseasonable warm conditions for 12 days now with but a single excep- tion the temperature has been above zero. On Saturday the reading was
16 degrees.
Mr. Haines, the senior meteorolo- gist, says that vast streams of warm air are pouring through the upper at- mosphere from the oceans to the northwards. He did not know whether to consider the warm spell abnormal, as this was only the third winter in which the polar conditions had been
studied in the Antarctic.
