"Close Camp Pell - Bolte
CAMP PELL should be wiped out as an
emergency housing settlement, Mr. Bolte,. Opposition leader, said last night.
The settlement as it now stood was a dis- grace, Mr. Bolte said.
Mr. Bolte said the Go- vernment should establish a rehabilitation centre to train emergency -settlement ten- ants to take possession of a home and not turn It into a slum.
One family evicted from Camp Pell on Monday gained a reprieve yesterday, but another did not.
Mrs. H. Young and her family of seven will be given another hut by Friday.
Mr. M. F. Cockburn, State accommodation officer, said yesterday that the Youngs had paid their back rent.
He said Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Hogan, their three children, and Mr. Hogan's father would also be found alternative accommodation if they paid their back rent.
When he was evicted, Mr. Hogan, who has been out of work for six months with a
broken leg, offered to pay ' three months' back rent.
