Thanks a million far the Canberras

. . . the best of

lurk!

Two thousand work- ers at the Govern- ment aircraft factory at Fishermen's Bend were thanked yester- day for their part in building: the Can- berra jet bombers.

Wing- - Commander D. R. Cuming and Squadron -Leader Peter Raw (at right), who will each pilot a Canberra jet in the air race from London to Christchurch, N.Z., begining on October 8, were given a rous- ing reception by the workers during their lunch hour.

Wing-Cdr. Cumins thanked the factory workers for their part in producing the Canberra jets, which he considered were better aircraft and easier to handle than the English Can- berras now in Aus- tralia.

Mr. John Miles, chief test pilot of the Govern- ment Aircraft Factory, welcomed the two fliers.

He said that all work- ers in the factory wished success to the Australian fliers.
