FLOODS IN INDIA.
MANY VILLAGES SUBMERGED.

SIMLA, October 4.
As telegraphic communication is being restored the gravity of the flood situation is becoming more known. Forty villages in the suburbs of Delhi are submerged, and the headworks of the Western Jumna Canal have been damaged seriously. A large number of villages on the Jumna River, in the Karnal district, and on the Sutlej River, in the Ludhiana district, are inundated, and appeals for boats have been received by the Punjab Government. The Chief Commissioner at Delhi is or- ganising relief.
