TO THE EDITOlí OP THE ARGUS
The article, "The Christians and Communism," Dy the Rt Rev Dr McKie (The Argus, August 7), is of interest to
everyone apprehensive of the activities of the Communist Party in this country. The Rt Rev Dr McKie points out the chief flaw In the policy of banning the Communist
Party when he asks what is to
be done with a man charged
with being a Communist.
The suggestion so simply stated by many people but rather too often not pursued further is: "Why don't the Communists go to Russia if they are not satisfied here.'' This is more to the point than most people realise.
I suggest that the Communist Party be declared a subversive organisation, and its members tabbed and given a period of up to six months to leave the country, with the alternative oí indefinite internment If they refuse to leave. This would avoid many complications which a policy of imprisonment without option would cause.
IAN H. LEYS (Mt Beckwith).
