NAMBOUR. OPENED BY THE GOVERNOR. MAGNIFICENT DISPLAY OF FRUIT. [From Our Special Representative.] NAMBOUR, July 24.

Nambour was favoured with splendid weather for the 13th show of the Ma-<*> roochy Agricultural Society, and there was an attendance to-day of over 1000. The

main features were the magnificent dis play of fruit, and the fine lot of dairy cattle. There were many loada o£ oranges and mandarins from the Blackall Range, and bananas and pineapples from Jte lower country. AH were of the high- quality, and the remark was frequently THard, "Why cannot we get fritit ]ike that in the shops in Brisbane V" The reason X' ren is that Melbourne and Sydney are tter markets for the best class of fruit. .With dairy cattle the strongest sections were the Illawarras and Shorthorns, though as usual some.animals were in the wrong classes. There were quite a num ber of animals which Would 'have called for attention in a Brisbane exhibition* The two district exhibits—Bli Bli and Yandina—were very good indeed; the former won on points in every division. In the Bli Bli exhibit there were some particularly fine yams, which attracted the particular attention of Sir William MacGregor. The season had evidently been particularly suitable for vegetable*, and the quality throughout was fine. In the pavilion the display was not so good as in many other shows. The horses varied, but generally were of a good and useful type. Shortly after noon the president invited the Governor to open the show. The events of the day passed off vevy well, and some fairly good Jumping took place. The trotting contest evoked veiy keen interest, and W. W. Burton's Donally won from R. Baker, defeating several visi tors from other districts. SWlNE.—Berkshire boar: G. Gerrard, sen. Berkshire sow : D. O. Horsfall 1 and 2. Sow with Utter : W. D. Bury 1, D. O. Horsfall 2.
