POLICE REPORT
SYDNEY
FEBRUARY 10 - John Noblet, was placed at the bar for frequently absenting himself from his master's service and returning drunk and abusive ; yesterday he said he would go into barracks, and accordingly walked off, but returned in the evening quite pot-valiant and abusive ; 10 days on the tread-mill.
John Crowley was brought up on the com- plaint of his master for neglect of duty, inso- lence, and finally running off. "Sure, your Honor, I never was before any Bench ; I have a good character, and the Windsor Bench only ordered me to be flogged three times." Ten days on the tread-mill and to be returned to his master. Master- 0 for God's sake let me get rid of him; I would rather work 10 days on the tread-mill myself than take him back again. He was accordingly ordered
to Barracks.
John Ready, prisoner, was brought forward on the charge of Captain Piper, for being in the constant habit of absenting himself from his employment, and yesterday although his services were particularly required, he was no where to be found. Sentenced to receive 3 dozen lashes on the back.
MONDAY.- Elizabeth Welsh was brought before the Bench, charged with being re- peatedly in a state of intoxication. "Where did you get the strong waters Madam?" " No where; I was not in drink yesterday." ''No ; but I suppose the drink was in you." Sen- tenced, 1 month to the 3d class in the Factory.

be returned to his master.
WEDNESDAY.-John Cooper, brought for- ward, charged by Mr. Bell, whose assigned servant he is, with refusing to work for him on Monday morning last, for contumaciously adhering to this assurance, and for calling his said master an impostor, and threatening to expose him to the public as such. Cooper denied that he refused to work, and endea- voured to recriminate on his master, but the Bench being satisfied with the evidence, he was ordered to be sent to the tread-mill for 7 days, and then to be returned to his master.
James Malone, a runaway from the Barracks for three weeks, was apprehended by constable
O'Meara, remanded.
James Kelly, tailor, assigned servant to Mr. Pendray. Thimble, it appears, was in the habit of drawing huge daughts of inspiration, every Monday, from the rum bottle ; he was therefore ordered 10 days to the tread-mill, and, at the request of his master, to be re-
turned to Government.
