Business for New Zealand.
SYDNEY, Friday. - Sir George Tallis and Messrs. E. J. Tait and F. S. Tait have, in association with Messrs Frank Thring and Beaumont Smith, decided to form a new business for New Zealand under the name of J. C. Williamson Films Limited, New Zealand, for moving pic- tures and vaudeville, and to build a circuit of theatres in the Dominion. The organi- sation will shortly begin the construction of a theatre in Queen street, Auckland, estimated to cost £140,000 At the same time a beginning will be made to remodel the old Opera House in Wellington.
Mr. Beaumont Smith, who has been appointed managing director, until Mr. F W Thring, will Ieave on Thursday by the Niagara for Auckland, and will be accompanied by Mr. Thring and Mr C. H. Ballantyne, oí Melbourne, architect, to complete plans and specifications for the new theatre, which, it is claimed, will be one of the most modern in New Zealand.
