Two Great Records.
WHEN he was successful in knocking 15 minutes off Albert Warneke's long-standing sidecar record from Too- woomba to Brisbane last Thursday Jack Cloake made motor cycling history. He now holds both solo and sidecar records between Brisbane and the queen City of the Downs. A notable feature of Cloake's records is that both were achieved on comparatively low-powered machines. His solo record was made on a 2¾ h.p. Indian Prince machine, while the sidecar record was accomplished on a 5 h.p. Indian Scout outfit. Perhaps Cloake's enthusiasm in the machine he rode in the sidecar record wau best exemplified by his spontaneous outburst at the Post Office at the con- clusion of the run. After the storm of welcome had died down, as he started to ride off in search of a "refresher," he exclaimed, "There's no doubt about it,
it's the best machine on the road." His speech was brief, but eloquent.
