APPLICATIONS FOR PASSAGES TO
SOUTH AFRICA.
Applications iverc received at the Vic- toria Barracks from over 250 returned soldiers for indulgence passages by trans- ports to South Africa recently. In reply to a cable message sent by the Premier, a message lins been received from the mili- tary authorities at Capetown, stating that returned soldiers who are farmers or artisans could be given Indulgence pas- sages, but Mr. Critchett Walker, the Prin- cipal Under Secretary, has refused to grant permits until the point as to whether each man landing in South Africa must have £200 has been cleared up.
