Man's Leg Severed
At Knee By Rope
>
A man's left leg was sev- ered at the knee by a rope while he was docking a trawler at a wharf in Pitt- water, Palm Beach, late yes- terday afternoon.
The man, Albert Singleton, 46, of Whale Beach Road. Avalon Beach, was treated by Manly Ambulance and two Palm Beach doctors. He was admitted to Manly District Hospital in a sciious condi-
tion.
The doctors from Palm Beach sent an urgent call to the Red Cross for blood plasma. , '
Singleton was returning with a fishing party in the trawler, which had been hired at a boatshed owned by Mr. C. B. Gow.
Ambulance officers said the trawler had been fastened by a rope to the wharf.
Singleton went to stop the engine, which had been in re- verse, but accidentally put it at full speed ahead.
The slackened rone caught Singleton around the left leg and severed it.
Constable J. Gearon, of Collaroy police, is in charge of inquiries.
