APPOINTMENT

Matron Grace Wilson

The appointment is announced from Melbourne of Matron Grace Wilson,       formerly Matron-in-Chief of the Aus- tralian Army Nursing Service, as exe- cutive officer of the nursing control   section of the Victorian Man-power

Directorate

There are few members of the nurs- ing profession in this country who have had wider experience than Matron Wilson both during war and     in peace. During the 1914-1918 war she was Principal Matron of the Aus- tralian Army Nursing Service and until she returned from the Middle East in September, 1941 was Matron-   in-Chief of the Australian Army Nusing Service from the outbreak of   war. In the interim she has been attached as a commandant to Austra-   lian Red Cross Headquarters in Mel- bourne, concerned with the expansion of Red Cross companies for work in Red Cross convalescent homes and depots and other Red Cross services. In civilian life Matron Wilson had valuable experience for her present post as matron of the Alfied Hospital in Melbourne, one of the largest general public hospitals in the State. For her war work. she has been men- tioned in despatches and awarded the Royal Red Cross, and she is also a
