Details of Agreements
The agreements made between the State Government and three local film companies for the production of films were tabled in Parliament yesterday by the Treasurer, Mr. Richardson.
The agreements, which were signed on De- cember 30, 1039, were between the Treasurer. Mr. Richardson, and (1) Argosy Films and Sir Hugh Robert Denison; (2) Cinesound Features Pty., Ltd.. and Cinesound Productions Pty.. Ltd.; and (3) Famous Feature Films. Ltd.. Hoy Is Theatres, Ltd., and H. C. Mcintyre, and Universal Pictures Pty., Ltd.
Films to be produced are:
Argosy Films: "Daughters of Australia." at c cost ol £12,500, and "Man Without a Country," at a cost of £12,500,
Famous Feature Films: "Fortv Thousand Horsemen," at a cost of £25,000.
Cinesound: "Dad Rudd," al an estimated cost of £12,500.
The State Government will guarantee £25,000 of the expenses of Argosy Films. £15,000 of the expenses of Famous Films, and £12,500 of the expenses of Cinesound Features Pty., Ltd. In each instance security has been furnished to the Treasurer.
The films must ba approved bv the Films Commission, and the producers may not pay anv money to any other person until all moneys owing on the overdraft accounts have been paid.
