ESCAPES FROM CASTLE.
LONDON. Dec. 11.
The wife of Prince Bernard Saxe-Meiningen escaped from her castle at Klagenfurt (Aus- tria), where she had been under open arrest since the Prince's sentence to imprisonment. The Princess crossed the Italian frontier.
The Austrian Government sent several Austrian Nazi leaders to a concentration camp as a reprisal for the escape.
[Prince Bernard Saxe-Melningen, a member of the former Royal family of Germany, was sentenced in October to six weeks' imprison- ment for Nazi propaganda work in Austria. His wife was placed under open arrest at his
castle at the same time.]
