SIR WILLIAM VICARS.
RESIGNS COMMISSIONERSHIP.
Sir William Vicars has forwarded his re- signation to the Government as a Commis- sioner of the Rural Bank.
Interviewed last night, Sir William said that he had no dispute with the Government, and that he was actuated In his resignation by private reasons.
It is understood that it is the intention of the Government to reconstitute the control of the bank.
Sir William, with four others, was appointed a Commissioner of the State Government Savings Bank towards the end of 1931. The Lang Government then brought down legisla- tion to enable the reopening of the bank after Its doors had been closed for some months.
The State Savings Bank department was subsequently taken over by the Commonwealth Bank, when deposits, which had been tied
up, were met in full._
