CATCHMENT AREA.
During the 24 hours ended at 9 o'clock yes- terday morning the rainfall on the Nepean catchment area reached only 140 points at Cataract and 123, points at Sherbrooke.
On the other hand, the rainfall on Monday evening was exceptionally heavy on the local catchment area at Manly, 556 points being re- corded there in a few hours. This resulted in the immediate overflow of the Manly reser- voir, and it was still overflowing at a rapid rate yesterday morning.
The Cataract reservoir at 0 o'clock yester- day morning was still 7ft 8in below overflow level, and it was estimated that it would take nearly another 20 inches of rain on the Cata- ract catchment area to ensure the reservoir overflowing.
