WOMAN FATALLY INJURED IN COLLISION
Cyclist Struck by Car
Mrs. Mary Ann Manski ), of John sLrec-:, was cycling home from an en- tertainment at 11.15 o'clock on Satur- day night when she was involved in a collision with a motor car, and suff- ered injuries which resulted in her death at 6 o'clock yesterday morning. Mrs. Manski was riding down the
incline in John-street to-wards Queen- street as Mr. C. Jackson, of Alice- street, who was travelling along Queen-street towards Ferry-street, ap- proached the John-street corner. The first that Mr. Jackson saw of the cyclist was when she was directly in front of the car. The car was ap- proximately 16 feet beyond the centre of the interaction when the collision occurred. Apparently Mrs. Manski, after cominig down the incline, had proceeded to the right in the path of the car. Mrs. Manski was thrown to the roadway by the impact. and sus- tained a laceration on the right temple. She was conscious, though dazed, and requested to be taken to her home. Mr. Jackson, however, immediately conveyed her to a doctor, who decided to send her to the General Hospital for observation. She was admitted to hos- pital and died early yesterday morn- ing, the cause of death being given as cerebral haemorrhage and concussion. Mr. Jackson. who is (generally con- sidered to be a careful driver, said yesterday that he had been driving for 26½ years, having covered over half a million miles, and this was the first accident in which he had been in- volved. The late Mrs. Manski was born at Maryborough and had resided here ever since. She was of a quiet dis- position, and was popular among her many friends and acquaintances. She leaves two sons, Messrs Norman Henry (M'boro.) and Michael John (Indus- trial Inspector, Longreach), two bro- thers, Messrs Frank Manski and Joseph Hoffman (Sydney), and five sisters, Mesdames H.Newitt (M'bro.). J. O'Dwyer. W. Kasmer (Bundabere), W. Birch and Miss C .Hoffmann (Sydney). The (funeral will take place to-morrow (Tuesday).
