At the police court this morning James Currie and Alfred Currie were charged, before the police magistrate, with having, In com- pany, on Saturday, on a Government road be- tween East Greta and Heddon-Greta, felon- iously and maliciously murdered Timothy Man -nix. Accused, who were represented by Mr. W. J. Enright, solicitor, were remanded till to-morrow, on the application of Inspector
Sykes.
The Coroner, Mr. T. H. Wilkinson, P.M., opened an inquest at the court-house this morning concerning the death of Timothy Man nix, who died in the hospital on Saturday night from the result of injuries alleged to have been received at the hands of two assailants, James and Alfred Currie, who were arrested on a charge of murder. Tho evidence of Ellen Maud Mannix, deceased's widow, showed that deceased left home at 2.10 on Saturday after- noon on a bicycle to go to work at Heddon Greta colliery, as usual. She did not see him until 6 in the evening, when he was uncon- scious in the hospital, and died without re- gaining consciousness. Deceased was a native of Branxton, 44 years of age.
At this stage, Inspector Sykes asked for an adjournment until to-morrow, which was granted.
