TnE LAST BOER WAR.
Mr. H. Rider Haggard is one of the survivors
of the fuir individual» who were concerned in
Sir Theophilus Shop'stono's annexation of ti)3 TiausvBttl in 1877. Ho was, in so for, well qualified to writo an account of tho successful Boor rebellion of 1881, whioh ho accordingly did iu tho year following that disastrous event, and now he republishes that account with such additions a«, have been rcudored advisable by reason of the disclosures innde in the interim. The preface is a very interesting piece of work, reviowing generally as it docs the history of British transactions with the Boors, culminating in tho war of to-day. Rendors who waut to know something of tho real charaotor of the Boeis-theso simple homely fnrmors cf whom we hear-would do well to get Mr. Haggard's little book.
