Borne few days ago a cable waa received stating that the Rev. R Mullineux, who had negotiated with theN.S.W Rugby Uuiou with the object of bringing a football team from Engl end to toui the colemos during the coming season, bad abandoned the project owing to the terms which were offered not being satisfactory, but {that bo could provide nn equally good team to visit Australia in 1000 Further, that the plajers prof erred making a trip to South Africa during tho comiug season instead of visiting Australia A good deal of correspondence had previously paused bet» eon tha New South Wale» Rugby Union and Mr Mullineaux As the union had met those controlling tho team in England in ey cry ivay, con- siderable aurpriso and disappointment wero ex- pressed that the trip waa to be allowed to lapse, and the action cabled ccutd not be understood As however, no oflicial intimation had been received locally of that intention, Mr W. A Rand, the hon secretary of tlioN S.W R.T U , despatched a cable message four or live days ago asking for some detinite information on the matter, and yesterday be received the welcome news that the team waa coming Un- fortunately, owing to a mutilation of the message, the date of departure of the team was not clear Naturally, thia uiforniatiou has caused great eatis faction in football circles, and now the arrange- ment for the international matches will be pushed forward. _
