MEMORIAL TO THE LATE MR. E. G.
At a large and enthusiastic public meeting of all the leading residents in the Council Chamber this afternoon it was resolved to establish a memorial to the late Mr. Edward George Brown, and that it should take the form of the erection of an elegant cottage for the widow and family of
the deceased. A sum of £110 was subscribed in the room before the meeting teminated.
Tho Robertson creamery paid 5}d last month. The Kangaloon factory paid 5d per gallon. This month nearly the whole of tho milk supply of the Berrima district is being treated on the creamery system. »
BROKEN HILL, Wednesday.
Au accident occurred in the Flying Handicap at the South Broken Hill Races this afternoon, whereby three jockeys named Finlay, Allen, end Wilson were injured.
The funeral of the late Mr. Alex. M'Minn, a Forester, took place in Camden this afternoon, and was one of the largest seen in the district. The Rov. Mr. Russell officiated at tho grave, and W.U. T. H. Wasson read tho Foresters' funeral service.
Two old identities have passed away since Saturday last. Mr. Keefc, of Galley Swamp, and Mrs. Broadbent, of Mount Macquarie.
Mr. Alex. Finlayson, of Ulmarra, one of tho pioneer settlers of tho district, died to-day.
Bishop Oreen left for the Richmond River this afternoon. He was accompanied down the river by a large number of parishioners on the steamor Woolwich. Tho Bishop was vory actively en- gaged in episcopal work during his visit to the
Tho Greta pit is still idle, with no prospect of sn immediate start. For the past fortnight the miners havo five and a half days' pay to draw. Next fortnight promises very small pay. Tho Anvil Creek Colliery will only have about six and a half days' pay.
At a meering to-night it was resolved to form a protection association for Tamworth and district. Mr. Nathan Cohon waa appointed president, Mr. John Len and Mr. W. J. Smith vice-presidents, Mr. H. Xi. Consens treasurer, and Mr. Addison Freeman secretary. A committee of 48 was elected. The work of tho association will be pro- ceeded with immediately.
