THE FAITHFUX MASSACRE.

The site of the Faithful massacre in 1836 has been definitely fixed by Mr. Uren, state Rchool teacher of Benalla. The Faithful brothers were the first white men to visit that district. They went to look for land, and went on to Euros, leaving nine men in charge .of-sheep at a site near the iron railway-bridge. The inen were attacked by blacks, and ran to a 6pot about half a mile distant on the Goo malibee-road, where seven or them were killed. The two who escaned.returned later' and buried the bodies or their massacred mates. The bonfes were found by Mr. Uren a . few days .ago, - At the shire meeting on Monday a discussion took place with regard to erecting a : me morial on the spot. It was decided to ask Mr. Thomas Nixon, in whose -pro perty the remains are, to donate the par-, ticular piece of land in which the remains

were discovered. The matter is now de ferred until a reply has been received froin him. . .
