KURRI KURRI. POLICE COURT.

At the police court this morning the bench was occupied by Mr. Stephen Murphy, Act ing P.M. John Gollan, charged with having on Sept. 18 used indecent language in the shop of Richard Pass, at Weston, pleaded guilty, and was fined 20s, and 6s costs, in default 14 days.

Azariah Thomas,, general manager of tho East Greta Company, proceeded against James Hanley for riding on the Company's 'bus without the consent of the owner or driver. Mr. Carlton (Messrs. Logan and Carlton) appeared to prosecute for the com pany. Defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined Is, 6s court costs, nnd! £1 Is profes sional costs, 'in default 14 days. Thomas William Tester sued William Henry* Thorpe for Uie sum of 10s, work and labour done and performed in the capacity of check weiglvmun. Defendant pleaded cause to show, and, acting under instructions from the lodge, asked for art adjournment to allow of the angagkmiont of counsel. The complainant said the matter had been before the lodge for about five weeks, and he consideitod thoro had been plenty of time to prepare the enso. The bench adjourned the case till the 19th instant. Constable Smith proceeded against Gcorgu Wilson for riotous behaviour in the bar of the Abermain Hotel on the 4th instant. De fendant pleaded guilty, and was fined Is, in default imprisonment till tho rising of tho court. John 'Abel complained that Daniel Morgan

refused to gave up possession of certain land situated at Abermain. Defendant .-aid he was prepared to quit if given time. He consented to an order to .quit within a period of 14 days, defendant to pay 0s costs of court by the 14th instnut, in default 48 hours' impris onment. William Henry Savage chiirptfl 'Robert Crumb'lin with stealing tuc sum of !il4. Mr. It. C. M. Oarling appeared for the. prosecu tion, and Mr. W. J. Knright for the ded/ncc. Mr. GarliiiR stated he had no evidence to of fer, and defendant was dlschor/yjd. John Taylor. Thomas O'.Ceefo, William Wicken, nnd Henry Hills claimed various amounts from William Henry Savage for ?wages alleged to be due. It was announced' that the matters had boon settled. Tn tho above cases Mr. W. ,T. l-Vnri-ght appeared for the plaintiffs. 'An inebriate was fined 10s, or in clf-fault. 48 hours, with hard labour. In a recent Small Debts Court caso, Henry Stevens v. (Baker). Eliza Ann McLean deposed that the furniture was tho property of her brother, John Baker. . fTer brother's wife had died and he left the furniture in clmrge of witness and her husband. There hod been -a few shillings paid for the. loan of the furniture. Witness did not say that the furniture was her own. Henry Stevens de posed that Ire heard the. last witness say that the furniture wns her property. David McLean said the furniture was tho property of his wife's brother. Charles Henry Finch (bailiff), deposed that Mrs. McLean «snld the furniture belonged to h«r brother.— The P.M. ordered tho execution i to be stayed . nnd also ordered claimant to pay £1 4s 6d, tho cost of the levy. Sydney Powell sued James Adams Tor the sum of £1 4s, rent, due. Defendant failed to appear. Verdict for plaintiff, with 5s costs ami 1.0s witnesses' expenses.
