OBITUARY

MR. JAMES RITCHIE.

Mr. James Ritchie, of St. ®e°rges Road, Bexley, passed away at Warra gamba on August 4, at the age or 62 years. He is survived by his wile. Irene, and sons and daughters, Bay. Tony, Eunice, and Beryl. The remains, were cremated at Woronora on August

Mrs. Thirza Wright, who died at Wentworthville, on August 5, at tno age of 80 years, was formerly a resi dent of Plumpton. She is survived by two sons, Prank and Ivo.

The funeral took place on 6th inst., at the Independent Cemetery, Rook

wood.

MRS. ELLEN McLEOD.

A resident of Jamisontown, Mrs. El len McLeod, passed away at her home on August 10, at the age of 89 years. She is survived by two sons and three daughters, viz.: Albert, Jack, Ethel (Mrs. E. Hopkins, Wagga), Olive (Mrs. P. King, Harden), and Maud (Mrs.

Ticehurst, Minto).

The interment took place on nth inst., after a service in the Presbyteri an Church, in the Presbyterian por tion of Penrith General Cemetery.

MR. W. G. MORTON.

Mr. William Gordon, Morton, of Rooty Hill, who died on 8th inst., at the age of 48 years, is survived by his wife and three daughters and one son, viz.: Thelma, Rita, Edna, Evelyn, and Gordon. ,

The funeral took place at the ROOK wood Crematorium on 11th inst.

MRS. E. PAINE.

The death occurred on Monday, August 15, of Mrs. Emily Paine, late of Plumnton. Her husband prede ceased her. One daughter, Molly (Mrs.

Heriot) survives.

Cremation took place at Rookwood

on 17th inst.

MRS. F. M. SHEA.

Mrs. Florence M. Shea, formerly of Glenbrook, passed away at Mater Pri vate Hospital, North Sydney, on Mon

day, August'15.

The funeral left the Latter Day Saints' Church, Nelson Street, Rozelle, on Wednesday, August 17. after a ser vice nt 2 p.m., for the Field of Mars

Cemetery.

MR. J. PAUL.

Mr. Joseph Paul, who was holidaying in Springwood, passed away on August 4, at the age of 68 years. Deceased leaves a widow, Earlie, of Mount St., Coogee, and a married daughter.

On1 the morning of August 5, a Re quim Mass conducted by Rev. Fr. Leen took place at St. Thomas' Church, Springwood, and the same afternoon Fr. Meredith, of St. Columba's College, took the service at the graveside when the remains were laid to rest in Springwood Cemetery.

MRS. M. II. " OLTRING.

Annie Hawkins Holtring, of Park Crescent, Faulconbridge, passed away at a private hospital at Randwlck on August 11. There Is one daughter, Maude (Mrs. Arnold), and a son, Wil

liam Wilson.

The remains were cremated at East ern Suburbs Crematorium on Friday,

August 12.

Mr. A. F. ABREU.

Mr. Antonio Foncesca Abreu, of Bathurst Road, Springwood, passed away on August 12. Deceased, who   was 88 years of age leaves a wife, Am- elia, and a daughter (Mrs, Kalten- bach, Faulconbridge). There are three grandchildren, Christopher, Raymond, and Bernard. Deceased had resided in Springwood some two years. The funeral took place in Springwood Gen- eral Cemetery on Monday, August 15, at 11 a.m., and a Mass was held in St. Thomas' Church, Springwood, yester

day.

Deceased was the eldest son of the . late William and Eliza Wakeling, of

Badgery's Creek, and lived In the dis trict the major portion of his life.

His wife predeceased him. He was a true friend to all who knew him, and will be greatly missed.

The family comprises Miriam, Nel-. lie, Annie, Harold, and Albert.

The luner&l took place on Wednes day, August 10, when the remains were laid to rest in the MethodiBt portion of Rookwood General Cemetery.

MRS. H. J. BURTT.

Mrs. Burtt, who passed away in Ne pean District Hospital, Penrith, on August 16, after an illness of only three days, was formerly Florence May Bax ter daughter of Mary Elizabeth and Thomas Baxter, of Charters Towers, Queesland, where she was born 61 years ago. Deceased's parents were na tives of Wales. Prior to taking up residence at Cranebrook 12 years ago the family resided at Brlghton-le

Sands.

The late Mrs. Burtt was a great wel fare worker, and had, at various times, reared 14 welfare children, some from babyhood. She will be remembered as "Madame Flora", at the Nepean Dis trict Hospital Carnival held In High Street, Penrith, some years ago.

Besides her husband. Mr. Herbert James Burtt, she leaves one daughter, Stella (Mrs. Edward Smith, Crane brook). One son was drowned In Bot any Bay in 1930 in a canoe accident, and St. George District Boy Scouts have planted a tree in their camp at Engadine in his memory. Deceased leaves a brother Thomas (Sydney) and a sister, Kitty (Mrs. Bray, Rock dale). A sister, Lil, and a brother, Norman, predeceased her.

Rev. A. E. Hodgson conducted the service on Tuesday, August 16, when the remains were laid to rest in the Church of England portion of Penrith General Cemetery.
