OBITUARY

Brigadier:General Lamrock

Brigadier-General John Lamrock, C.B., V.D., died at his homo at Lindfield, Syd- ney, yesterday. He was In his 76th year. Ile retired recently from tile position of secretary of the Moorefield Race Club owing to ill-health. Brigadier-General Lamrock had a distinguished war career. He left Sydney In June, 1915, as a lieuten- ant-colonel In command of the 20th Bat- talion, and remained In charge until June, 1916. He did splendid work at Gallipoli, and, to a largo extent, was responsible for the small number of casualties In the bat- talion and the comparative absence of sickness. On his return to Sydney in 1916 he was appointed camp commandant at Liverpool. Later he was promoted to the rank of brigadier-general. He was ap- pointed secretary of the Moorefield Race Club In 1912, and, except for his absence during the war, he occupied the position until his retirement this year. He is sur- vived by Mrs. Lamrock, two daughters, and

one son.
