Contributions from various branches of the Civil Service increased the Oxen- ham testimonial considerably yester- day. Mr. R. L. Stevenson, on behalf of the officers of the Executive Buildings (collected by members of the Lands De- partment Recreation Club) paid in a second instalment of 170 shillings. This amount brings the total collected through this channel to 270 shillings. The iollowing departments are as- sociated with this donation:-Lands Department, Survey Office, Irrigation Commission, Prickly-pear Land Com- mission, Forestry Department, Land Court staff, and Chief Secretary's
Office.
Mr. T. Bolger sent in additional contributions totalling 123 shillings Crem the State Service Union lists.
Alderman A. E. Curtis, writing from the Town Hall, said: "Herewith is my contribution to the Ron. Oxenham Fund. He is one of Queensland's greatest cricketers, and one of Nature's gentlemen. His omission from the team, judged on merits alone, is nothing short of a tragedy."
Mr. Robert Hooey, of Nundah, writes: I deeply appreciate the oppor- tunity The Courier-Mall has given me to express my sincere sympathy with Ronnie Oxenham in his non-inclusion in the team for England. It is indeed hard to realise how a Queenslander with such outstanding ability could be left out. I hope the Q.C.A. will show its appreciation in a solid way of one who has been such a great
asset."
