MATCH.

HAMILTON. FRIDAY.
The Hamilton ploughing match was held on the Strathkellar estate to day, and BO far as the number of competitors was con- cerned, has never been excelled in the Western district, no fewer than 25 com peting The ground-a piece of virgin soil was of the very best description to show off the work to advantage, and was so equal in quality that none could complain. Un- fortunately, heavy rain fell during tho morning, and prevented a large at tendance lonr competed in the champion class, in which some good work was done In this class Sherwood, who tamed fifth prize in the recent intercolonial contest, was only placed third, and it was considered by judges that lernera work far excelled that done in the intercolonial match Splendid work was also done by a veteran named Keenan, with a swing plough.
