AIR CRASH

SEQUEL

QUIET WEDDING

FOR PRINCE

BRIDE DRESSED IN

BLACK

LONDON, Wednesday.

Prince Ludwig of Hesse and Miss Margaret Geddes, daughter of Sir Auckland Geddes, were married quietly at St. Peter's, Easton Square, at 10 o'clock this morning.

Because of the death of the Grand Duke of Hesse-with other members of his family-in the disaster to the airliner in Belgium yesterday, Prince   Ludwig succeeds to the title, and Miss Geddes becomes the Grand Duchess.

The marriage had been arranged to take place next Saturday, but after a family conference last night it was decided that It should be celebrated very quietly this morn- ing.

Distinguished Guests

Only relatives and intimate friends were present. Among them were the Duke and Duchess of Kent, Countess Toerring, the Duchess of Kent's eldest sister; Lady Louis Mountbatten, the Marchioness of Milfordhaven, and the German Am-

bassador (Herr von Ribbentrop).

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a black costume and   a black top coat, trimmed with black Persian lamb. In her coat was a spray of white camellias. She also wore a small black felt hat.

Both she and the bridegroom, who

wore a dark lounge suit, showed signs of the grief they had suffered.

All those in the church wore dark clothes relieved by white flowers.

After the ceremony ihe couple walked quickly to their car. No con- fetti was thrown. The chauffeur gave the Nazi salute, which was re- turned by the bridegroom.

Sir Auckland Geddes later spoke to a special representative of "The Argus" after the wedding. He said : "Prince Ludwig's family has been virtually wiped out, and he has been left to face that situation. That is why, in the face of such a tragedy, the marriage was held to-day."
