HORSE Stkamna.-James Campbell alias Scott was brought up on remand, charged with stealing a horse from Mr. Post of Cook ardinah, on March 17, 1881. For tlio de fence, William Scott, miher, of Adelong, deposed ho knew the mare in question j she had a new brand upon her when he last saw her, in May last; Edward Darlow always claimed her till prisoner bought her»from him. By Sub-inspector Casey : I am a half brother of prisoners ; Darlow and prisoner wero in trouble together; they were great companions after they got out of trouble. Alexander Larther, carpenter, of Adelong, deposed : I think I have heard Darlow say he sold the mare to prisoner; I once saw Darlow running the marc, and I asked him who owned her; he said, I do; after wards Darlow told me prisoner got the mare from him (Darlow). Joseph Todd, miner, of Adelong, deposed, I saw the mare in posses sion of pfisoner at Adelong; heard him say he got the mare from Darlow ; Darlow used to work in the same claim with me; I never knew Darlow to claim the mare nor never heard him say he had given or sold prisoner the mare; I heard Darlow say he owned the mare at one time. Thomas Henry Hart, fanner, of North Wagga, after describing the mare, deposed on tho 19th April I bought her from Harry Thormly for £3; put her into a sccurc paddock, but shortly after missed her from it; ^ave notice of it to the police ; never authorised anyone to remove her. On application of police, prisoner was
remanded till 27th instant.
lIoiiHK-STEAMNU.-Harry Thomley whose name appears in connection with the samo charge against Campbell, was also charged with stealing the same hoase, the property of Mr. Post, of Cookardinah, on March 18, 1881. Constable Williamson deposed : I saw pri soner at BuIIcubong station on the 20th of September; asked hiin if he sold a horse to a man named Hart; he replied "yes," and also stated he got tho mare from Ed.
Darlow; then arrested him on suspicion of having stolon tho mare from Mr. Post, of Cookardinah ; produce a receipt which prisoner said he gave for tho maro to Hart; prisoner said lie know Darlow, that they had done a time together; bo (prisoner) also said be met Darlow, and told him ho was a broker; Darlow s*id, "I have a horse, and want £o for her Darlow «ave him tbq m:iro on credit; prisoner further stated he then went on the spree at Wagga Wagga, and sold her for Thomas Iienry Hart, farmer, North Wagga Wagga, de posed : I bought tho mare from prisoner on 10th April, 18S1, for £3. To Ueneh : Tho mare was stolen from a paddock about a week after. On application of police, pri
soner was remanded till 27th inst.
Lakcknw-Thomas Henry Anderson, for breaking into the railway station at Sandy Creek, was again remanded till to-day, 23rd
inst. No material evidence was taken.
