    Simon Grove Sampson was appointed to the position of Chief District Constable at Campbell Town, Tasmania on 21 October 1829. He was also Summoning Officer and Poundkeeper for the town. He was dismissed on 01 March 1833 for misconduct.

He is referred to as "Dr. Simon Grove Sampson" — surgeon of London and Tasmania — in the obituary for William Grove Sampson. His brother — Alexander Samuel Samson — was the surgeon.
