Richardson - searching for descendants John Harcourt Richardson/Gladys Bayes
I am searching for information on West Australia descendants of:
John Harcourt Richardson (my Grandfather) was born about 1853 in Liverpool, came to Australia with his Aunt when he was about 12 months age, lived in NSW, Victora, West Australia and died 19th October 1934 at Ipswich Queensland;
John Harcourt Richardson (my father) born 9th December 1903 Victoria - died about 1962 in Melbourne (if current research is accurate) - his Australian Army Nr. WX 10536 2/13 Field Ambulance. He enlisted in West Australia 20/12/1940, served in the Middle East/Africa, returned to Perth for a few weeks, before being stationed at Grovelly (Camp?) (Barracks ?) Brisbane with periods of service at Southport Queensland. Shortly after discharge at the end of the war, all trace has been lost, except for a Statutory Declaration which had been added to his service record.
(John's Mother (Annie Smith nee Richardson (?) nee Willey was looking for him in 1946)
Other Names associated with John Harcourt Richardson aka "Jack" -
John Smith (stepfather) - Doris Vida Victoria Armstrong (wife) - Doris Margaret (daughter) - Gladys Bayes (wife) - John Stanley Richardson (son) - Margaret (daughter) - Winifred Thompson (sister) - Clem and Olive Harford (Olive was also a sister) - Margaret/Peg Shand (sister) - Helen Shand (niece) - Annie Shaw (sister or half sister) Harry Smith (half brother)
I have his full service record (it's not flattering) - archived photographs (5 or 6) - and his last known address was 55 Carlisle Street, St. Kilda Victoria (from a Statutory Declaration signed on 5th February 1962) To the best of my knowledge he did not receive a Veteran's pension nor can a death certificate be located in any State of Australia. I suspect he died as an "unknown" just prior to the age of 60.
One significant street address associated with some members of his family was 217 Royal Street East Perth, West Australia.
I would appreciate hearing anything about his sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces and their descendants so that I can give them detailed information about parts of his life; extensive information on his forebears; and other details of his life during the period 1942 to 1946/7.

Hi Laurel,
I had just about given up hope of hearing from any descendants of John Harcourt Richardson. The name, "Shaw", is familiar to me - one of my father's sisters, either Annie or Margaret married George (?) Shaw. Later today (it's 4.45am here as I write this) I will add to this reply with a link to my daughter's research on the family tree.
My father, John Harcourt Richardson (junior) was born in 1903, although some records show 1904. If you search on Trove, or on Google, using John Harcourt Richardson in the search box you will find many results for him - and a few for John Harcourt Richardson (senior).
Thank you very much for responding. When I am fully awake I will expand on this reply.
Regards,
Frank.

Laurel,
Just a quick note - I am very tired at the moment. You can see more information on John Harcourt Richardson in my user profile. If you wish to communicate directly, my email is <removed for privacy>
I live in Mansfield Queensland (a suburb of Brisbane) and my telephone number is <removed for privacy>. Later, I will ask my daughter about the procedure of 'inviting' someone to Ancestry.com - there is a wealth of information on the family tree discovered by her over the past couple of years.

Laurel,
I am trying to cover all bases so some information might be repeated One message to you was deleted because I tried to give a contact address on a public forum. Since then, I have sent you a private message giving my contact details.
I will supply all the information I have on John Harcourt Richardson but, because of the amount of information, you might prefer to view it via ancestry.com. However, I do not want to lose contact with you because you might be able to supply me with information I have been seeking for quite some time.
My profile reveals more about me - and my search.
A search on trove for John Harcourt Richardson using the tab, "Digitised newspapers and more" should reveal a lot about my father's past - as well as on obituary for the senior John Harcourt Richardson who, I suspect, is the person you are asking about. Using the tab, "Pictures, Photos and Books", will, low down on the left hand side of the first page, provide a link to Flickr if you select one of the photographs showing John Harcourt Richardson (Service number WX10536)
I am so very pleased to have heard from you after striking so many dead ends in my hunt for information.
Frank
