    Hello,
my father lived in Kanowna between about 1907 and 1918, with his mother. She had married a second time to a Mr. William Chambers Robinson, who managed a mine there. Her name from her first marriage was Webster. My father was Ira Irwin Webster and I am Louise Irwin Webster. I have some info regarding those times, but I would be very interested to know some more.

    Hi
My great grandfather(Francis(Frank)William Edwards) along with his brother arrived in Kanowna from Heidleberg in Victoria abt 1898/99. His wife(Nora Ryan) to be (my great grandmother) also arrived around the same time she came with her parents and siblings from Charters Towers in Qld. They married in Kanowna in 1906. They lived in Gordon Road in 1910,between 1910-1916 they moved to Mercer Street. They had 6 children 5 of them born in Kanowna. In 1928/29 Frank Edwards was allocated block 450 in Jilbadji as part of the dusted miners settlement the land meant for farming purposes however whilst ploughing they uncovered some gold this land became the Sunshine Reward Goldmine Edwards Find a mine that still exists today.
Im attempting to write a book on the history of the mine and the Edwards Family and obviously Kanowna is where the history begins so if you have any info on the Ryans(William John and Ellen Ryan) or Edwards Families it would be greatly appreciated. I have a few photos of Kanowna if you are interested but would need a email address to fwd them to
