New records in Trove from the Queensland State Archives
Almost 10,000 archival images and almost 3,000 digitised archival records from the Queensland State Archives are now available in Trove. Queensland State Archives (QSA) is the custodian of the largest and most significant documentary heritage collection in Queensland.
Some of the images are of historical buildings including a large collection of plans and drawings of several hundred public buildings while there are others of Royal visits by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth as well as HRH Prince Charles and HRH The Princess of Wales.
There are also images of floods of the Brisbane river, and others over the years; useful for comparative purposes.
If you have forgotten the excitement of World Expo 88 in Brisbane, a wonderful collection of images will remind you.
Perhaps someone in your family entered the Miss AIF Competition in 1940 – Miss Albert Hotel , Miss Carlton Newsreel and Miss Greek Women’s Association to name a few of the entrants.
Family historians may be interested in digitised records such as the index to admission register for the Townsville Orphanage and various passenger lists.
It is very exciting to have these images in Trove and we look forward to adding more to this collection.
