Leichhardt Library Service pictures now in Trove
A wonderful collection of over 4000 pictures from the Leichhardt Library Service is now available in Trove. Surveyor's notes of the area feature in the 1800's and the earliest photograph, taken in 1900, depicts sailing ships at Mort's Dock by an unknown photographer.
There are several delightful patriotic pictures of a World War 1 Parade from 1915, and a larger collection of photographs of Beale’s Piano Factory taken in 1920.
The collection is a rich resource for local historians. It includes the Leichhardt Local Government Area views, foreshores and streetscapes, as well as the Annandale Association Register of Buildings' photographs from the 1970’s. Mayoral visits and library activities are also well represented.
